2024 SHPE National Convention
Event Collateral

The brief
Over the last few years, we have helped lead the creative direction for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. This organization works to foster Hispanic leadership in the STEM field and they hold an annual National Convention that is a major event that draws nearly 15,000 attendees. 2024 was a special year though. The organization was first established in 1974 and the 2024 National Convention was centered around the 50th anniversary theme, celebrating their organization’s history. With that being said, we started with the general 50th anniversary logo. Through an iterative process, we refined the design. Once we landed on an approved design, we used it as a jumping off point to create an identity system through a variety of deliverables that amplifies the history and accomplishments of the organization over the last half century.
Our Goal
To create a strong system that is versatile and visually supports their mission, values, and ideas, both past, present and in the future.
The Solution
With location of the convention being in Anaheim, California, around where SHPE’s organization came about, we used the bright, elegant palm tree theme and SoCal vibe to help create an identity system that helped push the idea of hosting a celebratory event for the organization.

The Process
To begin the process, we were first tasked with designing the 50th anniversary logo for the organization as a whole. This logo would be used in a variety of ways across many initiatives that the SHPE team runs throughout the year. As you will see below, we began sketching out ideas with pen and paper. We had sent them a range of options and began to narrow down the concepts from there. Using this logo as a jumping off point, we then adapted it to fit into the theme for the National Convention logo.
The Results
Once we were in a good place with the 50th anniversary logo, we moved onto the National Convention logo. As you’ll see, this logo is placed all over the convention in a variety of ways. From merchandise, environmental signage and more, the logo is designed to be strong and recognizable.

SHPE also asked for our assistance with two larger environmental projects that would be held at the convention. One of them being a walk through museum of the past 50 years of the organizations accomplishments. And, the other being an escalator wrap to help further brand the event. As you will see below, we originally mocked the designs up in a 3D space to really help display what the end product would look like for a more involved request like this.
